5 Tips for Young and Healthy Skin

The skin is not only the largest organ in the human body but it is also the most exposed.

The number of threats that the skin has to deal with is staggeringly high in comparison with all other bodily organs or parts.

Thus, it is imperative to take care of your skin if you wish for it to be young and healthy.

And, healthy skin cannot be attained in one day or through a particular course of skin care routine.

You need to take care of your skin throughout your life, regularly.

Here are 5 tips for young and healthy skin.

1. Limit contact with sunlight.

Avoiding sunlight completely will lead to deficiency of vitamin D but that doesn’t mean you would expose your skin to the sun without any protection or want to get tanned at all times. The damage caused by the ultraviolet rays of the sun can become irreparable if you are not proactive.

You should not expose your skin to sunlight during the afternoon hours. The sun is at its fiercest from around ten in the morning to about four in the evening. This is the time when you should avoid being outdoors or directly under the sun. You should always wear protective clothing when out in the sun and you must always use a sunscreen.

It doesn’t matter if it is winter or if you don’t plan to be in the open on a particular day. When you head out, have your sunscreen on. Most skin problems and signs of aging are due to consistent exposure to the sun.

2. Avoid smoking and also watch how much alcohol you consume.

Cigarettes and alcohol, both cause long term damage to your skin.

3. Keep your skin clean and moisturized.

Clean your skin before heading out and after getting back. If you spend about eight or ten hours at work, wash your face and hands at least thrice or four times. Also, you should use a good moisturizer depending on your skin type.

Don’t use harsh soaps or face wash. Use antibacterial or antimicrobial herbal or organic products if possible.

4. Get 8 hours of sleep and drink plenty of water.

Whether it is those dark spots or bags under your eyes, they are all facilitated by sleep deprivation. Water keeps the skin hydrated thus avoiding it to look old and tired. These two are the least you can do for healthy skin.

5. Avoid all makeup and skin care products that have chemicals, also those that you don’t need.

Make sure to take any makeup off at night before hitting the sack. Keeping it on overnight will result in clogged pores that provide a good environment for acne to appear.
